Labrador Retriever Puppies For Sale – To Buy or Not to Buy?
At some point many moms and dads around the country might hear the same question from their kids, “Can we get a dog?” This question might come up because the kids have friends with dogs, or maybe they saw one of the many advertisements in the local newspaper that read: labrador retriever puppies for sale.
Because they are one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States, labrador retriever puppies for sale is a title that can be found in just about any major newspaper in the country on a regular basis. Many dog breeders choose to breed and raise Labradors because of their excellent attributes. Because of their popularity, many humane societies and dog shelters have labs or lab mixes available for adoption as well. Labs make excellent family pets because they have a wonderful temperament around kids. They are very loyal to their families and they love to play. For the most part, labs have a very happy go lucky attitude as long as they are properly taken care of.
The history of the breed goes back to Newfoundland. The dogs were originally bred to work with fisherman to retrieve nets that had come loose and catch fish that had gotten away. The dogs were then crossed with Setters and other Retrievers to get to their current form. Once the Labradors got to this point, they were bred more for the retrieval of game during hunting expeditions. Many labs are still used as hunting dogs today, but have a great temperament for many other activities.
The question for mom and dad then becomes, “Should we get a dog or not?” Here are some interesting facts to consider about what it means to add the next member of the family. Labs need a lot of exercise. They are a very energetic and active dog by nature. Going for a short walk once a day will not be enough. Labs need to have open space to run free and chase toys. A fenced in yard is not a must, but it certainly does help. Labs also need to be groomed regularly. They have a very thick coat and need to be brushed to keep their shedding down. Labs also love to eat, and because they are a larger breed of dog, they need to eat 2 or 3 times a day. All of these responsibilities are definitely worth it to have one of these wonderful dogs.
